Do you want to finally mow that grass along your pond or under your garden benches? Or is it time to neatly finish the edges of your lawn? These jobs are done with a grass trimmer! Grass trimmers are ideal for small to medium-sized lawns. Thanks to these powerful trimmers, your lawn will be neatly restored in no time.
What is the difference between grass trimmers and brush cutters?
A grass trimmer is specially made for creating tight grass edges, mowing ditches and removing weeds. Depending on the size of your garden you can choose the grass trimmer or a brush cutter. Grass trimmers are suitable for small to medium-sized gardens with a maximum surface of 500 m². If your garden is larger than 500 m², it is advisable to purchase a brush cutter. A brush cutter is also better equipped for removing stinging nettles and light shrubs.
Different types of grass trimmers
Do you want to buy a grass trimmer? Then you can choose from different types of drives. There are electric grass trimmers, which are connected to mains power. In addition, there are petrol-grass trimmers, which are equipped with a petrol engine. You can also opt for a cordless grass trimmer with a rechargeable battery. The advantage of the latter two types is that they work wirelessly and that you therefore have optimal freedom of movement.
The cutting technique of a grass trimmer
There is not only a difference in the propulsion of grass trimmers, but they also use different cutting techniques. A large part uses so-called trimmer wire, but there are also models with special blades made of steel or plastic. The trimmer wire is often made of nylon and rotates around the trimmer head at high speed. In this way, grass and weeds are mowed by the grass trimmer. The wire feed, ie the extension of the wire, is controlled in various ways:
Manual: as soon as the wire becomes too short, you have to pull it out of the trimmer head yourself
Tip-automatic: when the wire is too short, tap the trimmer head against the ground, so that the wire is extended automatically
Automatic: the grass trimmer automatically extends the wire as soon as it becomes too short
