Night Vision Binoculars, Monoculars and Scopes
Tired of being kept in the dark?
Buy yourself a pair of night vision binoculars and see clearly after dark. Night vision scopes, goggles, binoculars and monoculars are a very specific branch of optic instruments. They are designed to intensify the image through the light amplification. It means that they gather the surrounding light and strengthen it, so that you can see also after sunset. They usually have none or a very small zoom, because their purpose is not to magnify but to amplify the light. Night vision binoculars are useful for watching nocturnal animals, hunting in a low light and many other purposes.

How does a night vision scope work?
The ‘heart’ of the night vision binoculars is the so-called residual light amplifier (cathode) which amplifies the incoming light, transforming it into electrons which then appear on a phosphor screen. This produces the well-known green image that you see when looking through a night vision scope. The quality of this cathode differs greatly from one model of binoculars to the next and this characteristic determines also the price. Depending on the cathode used, night vision scopes are categorised as first, second or third generation.
The quality of the images
Night vision goggles are available in many shapes and sizes. Binoculars and monoculars are the most basic distinction. They further differ in the quality of images. Do you want to observe in detail or just distinguish various objects after dark? There are two features determining the performance of night vision binoculars: the detection range decides about the sharpness of your observations and the brightens of the images depends on the amount of the residual light in the surroundings as moon and stars. On a clear night with a lot of moonlight you will be always able to observe better.
Infrared night vision
Infrared night vision binoculars use infrared technology as well as residual light amplifiers. Infrared light is a wavelength of energy that is invisible to the human eye. The most common source of this energy is heat. The wavelength radiated by the heat of the objects and animals which you observe are caught by your night vision scope and converted in an observable image. As a result, the infrared radiation is a light source detectable by your night vision binoculars enabling you to observe even in a total darkness.
Thermal night vision
Thermal night vision goggles use so-called thermal imaging. Electromagnetic radiation emitted by humans and hematothermal animals is easily detected from the radiated heat and measured in the infrared spectrum. Thermal imaging technology produces a thermogram which allows you to read differences in temperature in the environment: the warmer the object, the lighter the colour reflected on the thermogram. Thermal night vision binoculars are mainly used for surveillance, hunting and military purposes.

Night Vision generations
1st Generation Night Vision
1st Generation night vision goggles are the most user-friendly. The built-in technology enables you to enhance the residual light by a factor of approximately 1000. When you wish to observe objects such as buildings, boats or want to use a night vision system to protect your house, then this type of night vision binoculars is absolutely perfect.
2nd Generation Night Vision
2nd Generation night vision goggles are more advanced than the first generation. This type of night vision was initially used for military or professional purposes. However, nowadays it is also available for the private consumers. This generation has an additional micro-channel plate (MCP). This micro-channel plate has an extra amplifier and is placed directly behind the photocathode. This element consists of millions of short parallel glass tubes which speed up the electrons and and improve greatly the quality of your observation.
3rd Generation Night Vision
3rd Generation night vision goggles are without a doubt the very best available on the market! These night vision binoculars come with a photocathode made with gallium arsenide, which makes the images brighter and sharper then the 2nd generation. Thanks to an ion barrier film, the night vision binoculars are more durable.
